How To Start An Online T-shirt Business
Monday, January 12th, 2009
There are many online T-shirt businesses up-and-running and it might seem like a saturated market. But, if you are intent on starting one of your own, whether you are planning on selling customized Greek tee shirts for sororities and fraternity members, or retro rock T-shirts for aging boomers, you need to follow a few simple ground rules in order to make your company visible and rise above the crowd.
The folks over at Pioneer Thinking have a pretty impressive list of simple steps to follow, which they offer in two parts. Here are the first five things they recommend you do if you want to get off on solid footing:
- Establish your business goals: Your goals should be realistic and point you in the direction you want to go and toward your ultimate plans for accomplishment. For example: how many online shoppers for Greek t-shirts would you like to see visit your site each day?
- Rule by Passion: Be sure you are passionate about the type of business you are planning to start. If you’re not interested in T-shirts you won’t enjoy what you are doing and no one else will either.
- Choose a subject or theme carefully: This is very important in the T-Shirt industry. For example, you might want to do a line of arty T-shirts that showcase original works by artists from a specific community, city or country.
- Know your audience: Establish a target audience for your T-shirt business. Who will you be selling to? What are their ages, occupations, styles and interests?
Do Your Research: Find out ahead of time what the trends are and what people in your target audience group are gravitating to. Stay current on your theme once you’ve set one because trends and interests within a certain category will evolve with new trends and styles

Toy or Model Trains
Toy trains are manufactured with children in mind. They are usually made of either wood or plastic because children’s hands are smaller than adults and children tend to play rough with toys. That is why
manufacturers make them to withstand this hard abuse. Toddlers can use simpler models which they can pull along with the help of a string. Some makers of toy trains have them so they can be dismantled where kids can do the construction and play with it, all the while learning eye-hand coordination, motor skills and reasoning. As children age they become more responsible with their things. Once they are responsible enough, they can graduate from toy trains to model trains.
